The county of Dorset has a beautiful coastline packed with beaches, seaside towns and cliffs. Guillemot Cottage is located in the middle of Portland island that is just along from Weymouth. Portland is reached over a narrow causeway that joins the well-known pebble strip of Chesil Beach. From the accommodation it’s an easy drive to Dorchester, Lulworth and Lyme Regis where there is plenty more to discover.

There are comfy rooms on all 3 floors connected by a quirky, narrow staircase. There's a lovely quaint feeling that welcomes you in to this lovely holiday home.

This three-storey terraced home has 2 bedrooms – a twin room on the 2nd floor and a double room on the 1st floor. The shower room is also on the 1st floor.

There is a modern kitchen fitted with a fridge-freezer, electric oven and dishwasher. In the living-dining room there is an electric wood burner, 40-inch TV and DVD player. The small cottage garden has a hot tub, seating area and barbecue.

Activities In Portland Area

Guillemot Cottage is in the centre of Easton, a village in the heart of the island of Portland. Portland is tied to the mainland by a slim strip of land and is close to Weymouth and the much-visited Chesil Beach.

Wind surfing, sailing, sea fishing and kayaking are all on offer within minutes of Easton if you like to spend time on the water.

At Portland there is a castle that was built by King Henry VIII. There is plenty to see here such as the Tudor kitchen, ramparts and a gun platform. The views from the top are worth the climb. Portland Bill on the tip of the island boasts a traditional lighthouse that is a local landmark.

The rugged rocks to the front break the waves as the water crashes against the land. There are cliff walk trails around the island that provide a route of around 8 miles long. Ideal for taking in the sea air. Leave the island and visit Chesil Beach, an 18-mile stretch of pebbles that has sea on both sides.

A Final Note

Guillemot Cottage is the perfect place to stay in Portland. It is right in the centre of the island and within easy reach of all the local sites. Weymouth is just a few miles along the coast where there is a sandy beach, deckchairs, amusements and chip shops.

There is a Sealife centre and waterpark too – both are big hits with families. This stone terraced cottage is spread over 3 floors with quirky features such as dark beams in the living room and a bedroom in the eaves. When it comes to eating alfresco, the cute garden area has a table and chairs in amongst pretty flowers.
