Activities in the Barnstaple Area

The area surrounding Kentisbury Lodge is overwhelming with a lot of sights and sounds to keep everyone happy. Enjoy days out with the family. The Big Sheep in Bideford and Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park. Of course, you could just get out and enjoy the Exmoor National Park or the first class beaches and pretty villages close by.

Exmoor Zoo has become a perfect family day out. Activities run throughout the day. Meet birds, feed wallabies and if you’re brave maybe come face to face with spiders and snakes. The zoo has a number of big cats including a pair of black leopards, a Puma and Cheetah and Maned wolves. The zoo also has disabled access. Enjoy a meal in the Cafeteria or pack yourself a picnic basket. Watermouth Family Theme Park and Castle is another great place for kids of all ages and is considered one of Devon's premier tourist attractions.

Ilfracombe Art and Craft Society has presented a wide selection of local art and craft work in its exhibition spaces. Visitors to Ilfracombe can enjoy a visit to the modern spacious gallery, which is located along The Promenade,

Barnstaple - Short Estuary Walk is a 2.6 mile South West Coast Path walk mostly on a level tarmac path along the Taw Estuary. Keep a look out for wildfowl and water-birds as you walk past salt-marsh and tiny rocky beaches to the Tarka Inn.

Blakewell Waterside café and tea room is situated on a working trout farm. Feed the fish or catch your own supper. Relax and enjoy the stunning gardens and ponds while having a meal or something to drink. Castle Hill is set in 50 acre gardens.
