Activities in the wellow area

Enjoy the great outdoors, visits to the quaint villages dotted around the coast and countryside or just relax at your cottage. The sailing town of Yarmouth is just a 5-minute drive or a 15-minute cycle ride. Another quaint sailing town of Cowes is just a 20-minute drive.

Close by Colwell Bay offers uninterrupted views across the Solent to mainland England. Water sport lovers will be glad to know there are great surfing and kite surfing spots. Compton Bay a short drive away with an expanse of contrasting sands, deep blue sea, and an amazing backdrop of sandstone cliffs. Fossil hunt at low tide, you’ll be amazed at what you might find.

The Needles is a short distance away to the west, with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s holiday residence, is a short drive away. Take the kiddies to Blackgang Chine the perfect themed park to keep them entertained. The whole family can enjoy the amazing Ventnor Botanical Gardens.

These gardens lie in the extraordinary microclimate at the heart of the famous ‘Undercliff.’ This remarkable garden is protected from the cold northerly winds by chalk downs. It retains the warmth from its southerly aspect so well that, combined with the moderating influence of the sea, frost is rarely known.
